Assistance Dogs are not trained overnight. They require thousands of hours of training to expose them to different social and environmental situations. Dogs are not eligible to be accredited with the Public Access Test (PAT) until they are 18 months old, however once they are accredited they are entitled by law to accompany their handler to restaurants, hospitals, public transport and other public places that other dogs are not allowed. Sana dogs receive intensive training with the hope of placing them with their handler by 9 months of age. The pup will continue it’s training and form a bond with their handler as they mature and progress with skills aimed at managing the individual symptoms of their handler.

Finn and Jake

Finn was purchased by Jake in May 2023 when Finn was 9 months old. Jake was a member of the NSW Police Force and suffers from PTSD. Finn is looking after not only Jake, but his entire family. Jake will continue to train Finn with Sana Assistance Dogs working towards receiving his Public Access Test accreditation.
